OPP in-mold film
OPP in-mold film
1 Concept of OPP
in-mold film
OPP film, a film made of polypropylene, is scientifically called polypropylene film. It is usually referred to as PP film.
OPP film is colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, and has high tensile strength, impact strength, rigidity, toughness and good transparency.
Due to its excellent properties, OPP film is widely used by thermal transfer manufacturers as the base film of in-mold film, hence the name OPP in-mold film.
2 Application of OPP in-mold film
The surface of OPP in-mold film looks difficult to distinguish from another common PET thermal transfer film, but it can still be felt by hand. OPP thermal transfer film is a little softer than PET thermal transfer film.
Because the surface energy of OPP material film is low, corona treatment is required before gluing or printing. After corona treatment, OPP film has good printing adaptability.
At the same time, OPP film also has shortcomings, such as easy to generate static electricity and lack of heat sealing.
Therefore, OPP film is most often used as the base film of in-mold film, a derivative process of thermal transfer.
OPP in-mold film can simultaneously complete the surface decoration of the substrate during the injection molding or blow molding process, and melt into one with the substrate.
OPP in-mold film adopts the gravure printing process of inner printing, and its printing process can be divided into the following 6 steps:
1. First, select a blank base film with a thickness of 0.04mm according to the OPP in-mold film to be made;
2. Print the pattern of OPP in-mold film;
3. Apply the corresponding adhesive to the printed OPP in-mold film;
4. Re-inspect the OPP in-mold film coated with adhesive to ensure quality;
5. Divide the re-inspected OPP in-mold film into strips;
6. Die-cut the stripped OPP in-mold film;
7. Charge the die-cut OPP in-mold film with static electricity; and finally package.
